Course: Introduction to UKCA

The National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) is now accepting applications for its Introduction to UKCA course – a practical, hands-on training opportunity designed to help early-career researchers and professionals work more effectively with a community chemistry-aerosol climate model.

14 – 16 January 2026

NCAS Headquarters, University of Leeds

Running early next year, the course will provide practical experience of running the UK Chemistry Aerosol (UKCA) Model. The UKCA model is based on the Met Office Unified Model and the atmospheric composition module of the UK Earth System Model.

You will receive support from expert UKCA users at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science and gain experience of setting up and running experiments on the model.

Two courses are provided, an introductory in-person course at the University of Leeds and an advanced course available online.
