The National Centre for Atmospheric Science will provide independent, expert evidence on the feasibility, efficacy and unintended consequences of climate intervention technologies.
Our research contribution will be based on evaluations of geoengineering methods using climate and weather model simulations, and monitoring of impacts of geoengineering technologies using ground-based, airborne, and remote-sensing scientific equipment.
Participation in climate intervention research projects will be subject to strict ethical and governance procedures, with final decisions on high risk projects made by the Management Board.
