Are you a researcher with expertise in high impact weather, regional climate change, or numerical modelling? We seek a talented Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to join the CANARI project (Climate Change in the Arctic-North Atlantic Region and Impacts on the UK) to carry out and analyse simulations of extreme storms impacting the UK in present and future climates.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of climate and high impact weather within the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) at the University of Reading. As part of a well-established research group, you will work in a collaborative and supportive environment with access to cutting-edge resources and opportunities for career development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing simulations of present and future extreme storms forced by boundary conditions from the CANARI Large Ensemble
  • Analysing and evaluating the simulations, with a particular focus on the impact of climate change on heavy precipitation, inland flooding, and extreme winds
  • Collaborating with CANARI partners on regional climate change and high-impact weather
