Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Survey 2024

In January 2024, we shared our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion survey with all our colleagues at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science. There were 100 respondents to the survey, supporting our continued work to promote a fair and inclusive working environment, as well as identifying future priorities for equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation.

The survey report showcases our findings from the 100 respondents, including where we have improved as an organisation, remained consistent, and areas we still have for improvement. The report also outlines what we have already achieved this year to improve inclusion across the organisation and the wider atmospheric science community, as well as our plans for future work.

Our organisation’s diversity data has also been updated in line with this year’s survey results. Keeping this data up to date supports transparent decision making and highlights who we are as an organisation.

As part of our focus on improvement, we committed to conducting an EDI staff survey every 2 years to gather your views on a range of issues relating to EDI at NCAS; both the good and the bad, so we can understand what our priorities should be. We want to know how you feel about working at NCAS, where we have improved and what we can do to become more inclusive.

Answers to our EDI surveys are always fully confidential and will only be reviewed in line with NCAS’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion data policy. The information will be used to inform EDI focused activities funded by UK Research and Innovation.

Our next EDI staff survey will be taking place in 2026.

If you have any concerns or questions about the 2024 EDI survey report, or the next EDI staff survey, please contact Lisa Banton, Head of People, EDI and Workforce Development.
