We are looking for a research software engineer/computational scientist to provide support to the High Resolution Climate Modelling (HRCM) group through running, maintaining, and troubleshooting state-of-the-art climate simulation workflows. We anticipate that ample opportunity will arise to further develop the associated computational infrastructure to maximize benefits of continual developments in the National HPC environment. 

You will be working with the existing development team at the University of Reading, to exploit modern software engineering tools and practices to develop software for the management and use of supercomputing simulations. 

Role requirements

  • A university degree in a STEM subject (or equivalent) 
  • Python programming 
  • Linux experience 
  • Strong software engineering techniques 
  • An aptitude for working in interdisciplinary research teams
